Back in my early years when I started experimenting with ethnic percussion, I bought a djembe. This wasn’t your top of the line drum, but it got the job done, that is until I found out how much better the remo djembe got it done better. First is the sound. The Remo produces the widest variety of pitches from a booming bass to a tight slap you can get. What’s even better is the head. My djembe had some complicated method of mounting the head that involved strings criss-crossing in every which direction and you can forget about tuning it. The remo djembe has a tunable head and is so simple to change, you can break it in the middle of a song and still replace it in time to finish.
