The first hybrid-electric car was developed in the year 1899 by Ferdinand Porsche. Many other people followed his path and started working on it. Most of the people who were interested in this hybrid concept started making hybrid cars. Until 20th century none of the major car manufacturers came forward to invest in the hybrid concept. This hybrid concept was mainly used to develop diesel-electric submarines. A hybrid car uses two sources of power to run, one is the electric engine and the other engine runs on a fuel such as gasoline. These two sources provide power for the vehicle to run, emitting less smoke and using less fuel.
